Seller Questions

How is my business kept confidential during this process?

Our number one goal is to keep everything about the business confidential. If employees, vendors or competitors become aware that the business is for sale it could have a negative effect on the business and/or the transaction. In order to keep your business confidential we go through a qualifying process with every buyer that has an interest in your business.

Once a buyer contacts us, we then ask them to come into the office and complete a Confidentiality Agreement and a Financial Statement. The Confidentiality Agreement basically states that the potential buyer will not disclose any information about the business to anyone else. The Financial Statement helps us determine if the buyer is qualified to purchase the business based on their financial status.

How much is my business worth?

Since every business is different we use multiple methods and procedures to give buyers a range of ideas of what their business is worth.

Business valuation is not always as scientific as you may think. The business valuator uses assumptions based on his knowledge and experience in the market place, as well as his familiarity with similar businesses.

How long does it take to sell my business?

Typically a transaction will take 30 - 60 days from the time the contract is signed to get closed. The variables have to do with what type of financing is involved, the number of attorneys involved, whether or not there is a franchise involved, and the complexities of the transaction. It is our goal to simplify and minimize the complications involved in any transaction.
